Luckily, a number of Toronto’s finest spots are now offering pre-made meals and do-it-yourself kits, so you can enjoy delectable Italian dishes like homemade pasta and pizza, as well as the rich flavours of Thai and Jamaican cuisine, in the comfort of your own kitchen. These restaurants have meals and kits available for both pickup and delivery, so be sure to place your order ahead of time to enjoy a delicious meal (without all the fuss) at home.

General Assembly Pizza

For those craving a classic do-it-yourself pizza night at home, General Assembly is here to help. They’re currently selling kits to make two of their signature pizzas, Loving Cup ($21) and Mila Margherita ($19), complete with their naturally leavened dough, house-made tomato sauce, cheese and the necessary add-ons like pepperoni and fresh basil. Each kit makes two pizzas, so you can feed the family or just have lots of leftovers for yourself! Available for delivery through UberEats, Foodora and DoorDash, and pickup through Ritual.

This treasured Italian spot is adapting well to the current reality by releasing an extensive menu of takeout meal items on Sundays. Grab a litre of one of their homemade sauces or ragus and portions of their fresh pasta to cook your own meal at home, just like the ones they’re known for, without spending hours over the stove. They also have a few prepared, ready-to-eat meals, lasagna trays and “kits” to recreate some of their most famous dishes like cacio e pepe and burrata pizza. Available for pickup and delivery from their St. Clair locations on Wednesday to Saturday from 4-9pm, and Sundays from 1-5pm. Their Portland location offers both from 4-9pm on Wednesday to Sunday.

Get your fix of creative Caribbean-Asian soul food at home with Patios’s Heat n’ Serve Care Packages, filled with their classic dishes like Jamaican oxtail, jerk chicken, creamy coleslaw and rice & peas, plus dessert and sodas. The kits, which can be ordered in full or half size, are filled with enough food for a large dinner plus leftovers and come with instructions for heating and serving. They deliver within a 20km radius of their restaurant on Dundas just west of Bathurst, or orders can be picked up. Ufficio’s elegant Italian food is available for takeout and delivery as part of their new Dinner for Two menus. Enjoy their beautiful whole stuffed trout, ricotta gnocchi adorned with truffle cream sauce or porcini mushroom agnolotti, all served alongside sauteed ricotta-flecked rapini, focaccia bread and olives. They also offer a few vegetable-based add-on dishes, vegan crab cakes and bottles of wine, and orders can be picked up curbside or delivered through UberEats or Foodora. Available for curbside pickup or delivery through UberEats and Foodora, from Wednesday to Sunday.

If you’re craving the ultra-satisfying, sweet and sour flavours of Thai food at home, Favorites has got your back. Chef Haan Palcu-Chang of this Thai BBQ spot has been putting together cook-at-home meals kits, available once a week for pickup, that include curry, rice and salad. Order through his company, Mama Flo’s, to snag your kit every Friday before they sell out. Chubby’s is a favourite in the city for creative Jamaican food and much to everyone’s delight, they’ve just launched their new menu for takeout and delivery. The Family Meal option includes their most popular dishes like curried goat and jerk chicken alongside delicious sides like golden fried plantains, rice and salad, making for a complete feast that’s highly shareable. Orders can be made Tuesday to Saturday from 3-9pm through their website and are available for pickup or delivery.
